Desert Dust by Jerry Palen
"Desert Dust was a wild mustang stallion that was captured in the Red Desert in the 1940's. He was a striking palomino, and was photographed in a majestic pose which made him famous. As a result of the publicity he became the inspiration for the movement to save the wild horses. Jerry has depicted the horse's independent attitude with his frozen, cropped ears and battle scars from protecting his band of mares."
Jerry is currently working on a large showing of paintings and sculptures of the Red Desert which will probably take place in 2010.
